The Maine
Album Review: Can't Stop, Won't Stop
With their first full length CD, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, The Maine has successfully stated their position in the music industry.
Stay Up, Get Down, their first EP, was released in a digital format on 2007. Though most of the songs sounded rough, it was an early indicator of the group’s talent.
A second EP, titled The Way We Talk, was released 7 months later. Though most of the songs featured are among the least-known from the group, single “The Way We Talk” is easily one of the most-known. Only half a year later, it was clear that The Maine had already grown closer musically as a band. While the songs lacked anything to be attached to, the band was obviously getting ready to make it big. And they did.
7 must be a lucky number for The Maine, because once again, they waited 7 months to release their next album. This time, however, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop led them to stardom, and an immense amount of fans.
As with most songs, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’s collection deals mainly with romance, from being in love, to finally getting over someone.
The first song that drew me into this band was “Count ‘Em, One, Two, Three”, although I now have different thoughts about the song, it’s an easy way to find out if your ears fit their style.
The difference between Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop and their older ones is very noticeable. Not only did the band get better recording quality, but they also obtained a real sound. The first two EPs had talent, this album has not only talent, but quality music and production also.
Other notable songs are “I Must Be Dreaming” and “Into Your Arms”
