Warped Tour 09 - Orlando

WARPED TOUR 7/24 IN ORLANDO, FL.

This would be the first concert review for 'Freshly Unique' and It's so fitting for this concert to be the first for the site, manly because of the passion behind this tour in particular. For 15 years now the Warped Tour has been around, and every year, at every venue, massive amounts of fans come out to see an impressive line up of all the best bands in one place. As great as it is, Warped Tour isn't for the weak, quite honestly, dealing with temperatures of 106 degrees, while pushing through thick crowds to get close to your favorite brand takes a lot of endurance. But if you can manage that and handle yourself without passing out, the performances are something you'll never forget.

I'll be summarizing the shows put on by 6 of the bands that played, and sum of the day for you, from my perspective;

A Day To Remember
Rating: 4/5

These guys know how to have throw a show, and a pretty fun one to say the least. I got there early for ADTR and the crow was already pretty big. The band started out with the Superman Theme and jumped right into their first song called "The Downfall of Us All" the opening track on their latest alum Homesick. What's really awesome about these guys is with thier talent they are consistent, and always play a good show. Whats also pretty great is the crowd these guys pull. The fans are awesome I'd say almost 2/3 of everyone there was singing along. a lot of engery and it was really a good set.

The Devil Wears Prada

Now I'm not a huge fan, but I have to hand it to the band, they put about 40 minutes of music out that really kicks your ass. They are brutal on stage, and their pressence is awesome. The music was fantastic, although I felt the vocals were somewhat weak? Maybe it was the equipment, but regardless they deserved their main stage spot in the tour, these guys are never a let down. They've really been just getting better and better, and I'd say they were proabably one of the best sets I saw the whole day.

Escape The Fate

Weak, just weak that's all I can say. Escape the Fate didn't seem too livley during this show. Maybe the mood wasn't right or something, but the energy on stage was seriously lacking. And usually they play a pretty great show, so it was for certain the biggest dissapointment of the day.

Now here's a band whose made their name, earned their fame, and know how to play the game. Truly this band has everything down perfect. If TDWP's set and performance wasn't sooooo perfect and livley, these guys would have been the second best act for certain. They played the perfect mix of old and new songs, and got the crowd pretty energized for a really enjotable performance. The best song they played was “Its’ Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door” literally everyone started singing along it was awesome. Really great job.

Attack! Attack!

Without a doubt, one of the lamest performances. There was something just dull and boring for me about their set, which is somewhat understandable on tours like these. Sometimes the bands just get tired and what not, but they were either sleep deprived or exhasted and didn't seem too into the music/show. So it was kinda of medicore and a let down for me :(.

Chiodos

The best crowd for sure, Criag Owens is a God, and he's aware of his almighty status. Before every song he was telling the crowd exactlyyy what to do and like bugs to a flame they followed him it was crazy to be in the middle of. There was a wall of death, lots of crowd surfing. The massive crowd that showed up not a single one of us wasn't moving and it was awesome. Musically they were fantastic, and on top of that techinally they were flawless. Great set, and really entertaining pits :)).

ALL IN ALL

All in all Warped Tour '09 in Orlando was pretty freaking fun, I didn't eat anything, but my friend said he had some really good chicken there (which honestly was surprising). Good food at Warped Tour!? As long as you remember bring lots of water and sunscreen and come ready to push to see the bands you want, then you'll have a great time.
